To many there is no greater souce of inspiration than studying the exploits of the great men and women of history. If we measure our challenges and successes by this standard how would we fare?

I am very lucky to have met both Sir Edmund Hillary , and 8 time Hawaii Ironman champion Mark Allen.

Also one of my favorite actors Charelton Heston and Rock Star Scientist Professor Brian Cox.

The list of those I wish I had or could meet is a much longer list. Can you imagine a beer with Ghandi, or a spending an afternoon on the beach with Einstein.

You may enjoy learning about:

  Robert Hooke

  Bertrand Russell

  John  Harrison

  Bobby Fischer

  James Clerk Maxwell

  Michael Faraday

 Carl Sagan

 and the list goes on...

Bertrand Russell was a most amazing and interesting chap.

A British philosopher, logician, mathematician, historian, social critic and political activist.

A Nobel laureate, he was considered one of the founders of analytic philosophy, and is widely held to be one of the 20th century's premier logicians.

Stephen Hawking  believes that "the universe is governed by the laws of science. The laws may have been decreed by God, but God does not intervene to break the laws. He regards the concept of Heaven as a myth, believing that there is "no heaven or afterlife" and that such a notion was a "fairy story for people afraid of the dark"

"We are each free to believe what we want and it is my view that the simplest explanation is there is no God. No one created the universe and no one directs our fate. This leads me to a profound realization. There is probably no heaven, and no afterlife either. We have this one life to appreciate the grand design of the universe, and for that, I am extremely grateful."
