CONGRATULATIONS !!

You have stumbled across a new and unique field of science.

Anomaly Theory is a developing field of study of the pattern of cause and effect, and occasionally the lack thereof. It is not Chaos theory so they'll be no talk of butterfly wings and hurricanes.

Outside the realm of Quantum Theory there are few genuine anomalies in the physical  world, but of course the "behaviour" of living creatures can legitimately be described as quite random and arbitrary.

Indeed with the discovery of Newtons Laws, and then later Einstein's Theory of Relativity, it was presumed we could scientifically and accurately predict everything.

Mr Heisenberg did shake things up a liitle with the introduction of his Uncertainty Principle.

So, what is Anomaly Theory..... In essence it is problem solving from an illogical suposition. There are several traditional ways of problem solving that we are all aware of:

  • Trial and error

  • Collection of data, hypothisis, experimentation and implementation

  • Blind luck - (my favourite!)

  • Stroke of genius

Anomaly Theory is the application of a staistically unlikely scenario of causeality to the one errant piece of data that would otherwise be routinely determined as irrelevant, and to solve the problem at hand via this approach.

For example, the source of the sand that made the test tubes, and their diameter, may seem unlikely factors in an experiment, but does that mean they can't be when nothing else seems to be at play?
